When I first drove past the Cape May Linen Outlet on Park Boulevard, I literally came to a screeching stop in the middle of the street.

Linen …outlet? As I slowly started to pull away, I thought, have two words ever sounded so good together?

To most Cape Mayans– when they think of the Linen Outlet, their eyes get brighter, a smile comes over them, and a knowing look settles in. They know because they’ve probably been there more than a few times. Heading into the Cape May Linen Outlet (in West Cape May) is a shopper’s dreamland.

There is stuff in here for kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and about every other room…or perhaps I just about named them all right there, but you know what I mean. It’s the kind of shop that you can linger in for about an hour and keep finding things that you love or your mom/friend/cousin will just die for. Things like fantastic striped sheets, adorable Hawaiian print oil cloth baby bibs, and plush blue and white star washcloths. And I didn’t even mention the prices yet –this is a true outlet with true outlet prices and in Cape May – that is indeed reason enough to smile.

So, now that I’ve brought you in the know on The Outlet, changing the look around your home every season isn’t something you’ll have to save for or keep on your wish list – it’s something you can do now. Instant gratification is so where it’s at, no?

As I headed into the Linen Outlet this week (yes, I’m on a weekly here because the stock changes so often), I had kitchen on the brain. My kitchen needed a little pick-me-up and a little more shore as we head into summer.

Within about three minutes of walking into the door, I found the cutest tropical fabric pattern in a light blue with big red flowers and palm trees dotted around boat scenes. It was sitting on the shelf along with other nautical or shore inspired patterns.

I chose these for my kitchen because I’m lovin’ how serene and pretty they are without being “Biff and Mitsy.” Read - stuffy. The Linen Outlet has the fabric in napkins and placemats (which look wonderful on my white table), also valences, and chair cushions. Pick up the entire set for a complete, matching look (which will satisfy the interior decorator in you) or pick out another placemat and napkin set to pick up on one of the pattern colors. The Linen Outlet has plenty of plain colored placemats and napkins to cover your table.

Anyway you choose, the Linen Outlet can provide an instant makeover for your kitchen with a fun look that doesn’t hit the wallet too much.

I’m swinging on a hammock between two palm trees while boats pass by through the lagoons and the soft breeze plays with my hair when I look at this fabric. And really, who doesn’t want to be swinging in a hammock? Isn’t that what being in Cape May is all about?

Stars from Simply Unique

“Look at the stars, look how they shine for you” These stars are shiny, giant, and come in a few different colors so really, what are you waiting for? Slapping a star or any of the awesome garden wall decorations here, is an instant way to bring a bit of whimsy and fun to your outside. And really, who couldn’t use a bit of that? You know you love that yellow sun…

Vases from Wildberries

Owner Val Sperlak is a master of display. Every time I see Val, she is improving something and usually has a hammer in hand. Well, her hard work paid off because everything is lovely. Especially these pressed flower glass vases. They are so colorful and fun and come in loads of different styles and sizes (there are even votive holders). So, ditch those common vases (you know the ones - from getting flowers delivered) and bring these little guys into your life. Dontcha just wanna smile when you see them?

Starfish Canisters from Mariah's

I love these canisters. Perhaps a bit too much because when I proclaimed my love for them out loud I think I scared Amy who was just trying to do her work. I don’t care though, it must be known. Seriously, look at how fab these are? They are bright blue and the contrast with the silver fish is just right. Right?

Cat And Dog Pillows From Tradewinds

I swear that cat is staring at me with no good intentions. Perhaps I’m just paranoid but I don’t know… Well, if you are a cat or dog person you will appreciate how strangely appealing these accent pillows are. I love things that are different and can’t be found in Target or one of the “marts” and Lissie’s store has that going on in spades. It’s like walking into a global market where the goods are exotic, weird, breathtaking…well, you get the idea. Throw these pillows on your couch or chair but watch out for that cat, man.

So, did you enjoy shopping in Cape May? Who knew you could get the same shopping buzz sitting at home in front of your computer with your jammies on? Well, perhaps you did know that Smarty pants, but did you know that you can stop back on this page every week and find the latest cool stuff from Cape May stores? Well, you can so if you can’t be here on Cape Island, the next best thing is to bring the island to you and your home. Life is a beach, after all, no?

See what we went shopping for last week!
