May 28-June 14 - Sponsored by PNC Arts Alive, the 23rd annual Cape May Music Festival brings great sounds to America’s first seaside resort. This year’s festival features two free concerts. The first is a perfect way to celebrate Memorial Weekend as the Atlantic Brass Band offers rousing all-American music on Monday, May 28. Later that week on Thursday, May 31, Irish performers “Masters of the Celtic Harp” perform in a free concert at the brand new Cape May Convention Hall.
Of special interest to those who knew and loved George Mesterhazy, is a special tribute concert to the man and his music. A familiar face at the piano at the Merion Inn. George was slated to perform on June 3rd at the Music Festival. In his place, many of his friends in music will gather to create a fitting tribute to the man who would want the music to play on.
Country/blues/pop singer Eilen Jewell comes to Convention Hall on Sunday, June 10. Music Festival favorites the Bay-Atlantic Symphony, the New York Chamber Ensemble and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players return for several concerts during this year’s event, which runs from May 28 through June 14.
