Cape May’s second annual Harbor Fest usually begins on Friday evening with the Blessing of the Waters in front of the Fisherman’s Memorial on Missouri Avenue. This year’s blessing was all the more poignant in light of the six fisherman who lost their lives March 24 when the scalloper Lady Mary sank less than 70 miles off the coast of Cape May. More than 400 people gathered to say goodbye, among them the relatives of those who lost their lives, many of whom travelled up from North Carolina to attend.
