The Beach Theatre will be 60 years old next June if it survives the wrecking ball and supporters gathered Saturday, June 27 at the Chalfonte Hotel to make sure the old girl makes it. The “Countdown to 60″ cocktail party featured a presentation by architect David Schultz outlining his firm’s “conceptual vision” for saving the theatre by incorporating a boutique hotel around the property. Currently the movie theater is owned by the Frank family, who own a number of movie theaters in South Jersey and Florida. The Beach Theatre Foundation leased the movie theater last year from the Franks, while pursuing an option to buy the property. Time ran out on the lease and the group choose to direct their efforts to finding a developer who would save the theater.

I hope you guys had great success with that! I don’t want to see the theater go! I love that place!
We have been going to Cape May for the past 7 summers and each summer the neices and newphews look forward to going to the theater. I hope this one stays open.
