Historic Artifacts

In addition to Victorian architecture, Cape May is home to a few historic artifacts which you can view at no charge.

WWII Artillery Bunker

Located on the beach at Cape May Point State Park.

The bunker once contained heavy artillery and was manned by a rotating detail of naval gunnery crews, who spent hours on end scanning the horizon for enemy surface ships and submarines.

S.S. Atlantus

Cape May Point’s own sunken ship, located at Sunset Beach in Cape May Point.

In 1926, the S.S. Atlantus was intended to be used as a landing point for the new ferry connecting Cape May Point to Lewes, Delaware.
