Historic Cold Spring Village kicks off the 2019 season with its signature fundraiser, Feasting on History. The annual restaurant gala is one of the most anticipated social events of the season offering guests an opportunity to network with businesses and the community before the summer season begins. Feasting on History is now in its 19th year and promises to be an amazing event. It will be held at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum at the Cape May Airport.
Cape May County's favorite restaurants, wineries, food trucks, distilleries, and breweries generously donate delicious food, signature dishes, wine, craft beers, and desserts. Last year over 500 guests enjoyed a night of food, music, and networking while celebrating the mission of Historic Cold Spring Village.
Feasting on History supports the Village and its mission of historic preservation, history education and heritage tourism. This season we are highlighting the Spicer Leaming House which was built in the 1800s. In 1977 The house was acquired by Historic Cold Spring Village and moved from the Cape May Canal area.
"The Spicer Leaming House has deep connections to some of the founding families of Cape May County and plays a central role in Historic Cold Spring Village's preservation and interpretation of the 18th and 19th-century life. After over 40 years on the site, it is need of significant repairs to its foundations to ensure it will continue to play a vital part in telling the story of Cape May County for generations to come." states John Ryan, Assistant Director of Historic Cold Spring Village. Proceeds from the 19th Annual Restaurant Gala will be used as matching funds for a Cape May Country Open Space Grant to restore Spicer Leaming.
