There is so much to do and see in Cape May that even on a rainy day, you won't be bored. And Cape May isn't just a summertime destination. Year-round, you can find entertainment, art shows, go boating, visit the Cape May County Zoo, and enjoy our beautiful natural environment by the sea.

Cape May is the perfect vacation choice for families with children, because we have family-friendly beaches, whale-watching tours, miniature golf, a free zoo open year-round (a quick trip up the Garden State Parkway), and roller coasters just a short distance away in Wildwood.

But Cape May is also great for couples, because it affords romantic beach walks, wine tastings, theatre, art, and fine dining.

Rainy Days

Rainy days are often more crowded in Cape May due to an influx of people from nearby shore communities that have less to do when the sun is hidden. Hit the shops along the Washington Street Mall or duck into a restaurant to wait out the rain. If lightening is spotted, lifeguards will close the beaches.

Consider a massage or day at the spa, visit a local winery, or do some crafts.

If it's going to rain all day and you have kids (or if you're an aviation buff), visit Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum, which is just a few miles north of Cape May. All exhibits are indoors, and it's hands on! Plenty of parking. Spend the day climbing on airplanes and exploring interactive exhibits.

If you're in the need for a movie, checkout out Rio Stadium in Rio Grande, at exit 4 off of the Garden State Parkway. There are also Red Box movie rentals at Wal-Mart and ShopRite in Rio Grande.
