Critically acclaimed organist Gordon Turk makes his annual visit to Cape May in recital on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 4 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Washington, and Franklin Streets. A reception to meet the artist will be held in the Parish Hall following the concert. Admission is $10.00 per person at the door. Dr. Turk, a prominent American concert organist, has performed throughout the United States and abroad. He is particularly well known as resident organist of the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ where he plays for weekly Sunday Services as well as for solo recitals in the summer. Commenting on a recent recital The American Organist says, “Dr. Turk proved a huge success; he rendered a program of virtuoso playing combined with impeccable artistry and strong rhythmic drive. The concert ended with a standing ovation.” In addition to being featured on such radio programs as Pipe Dreams and Sacred Classics, Turk has released several compact discs. He is also the organist and choirmaster at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Wayne, Pa. and professor of organ at Rowan University in NJ.
The organ at Church of the Advent was rebuilt in 2002 by Russell Meyer and Associates of Bridgeton, NJ with additions in 2004 and 2005. It has three manual, 27 ranks and 1668 pipes.
