The annual Fireworks Extravaganza took place on July 4th at 9:00pm on the beach in front of Congress Hall. The dazzling display brought an enormous turnout and made for the perfect end to a day full of patriotic festivities around Cape May.

The annual Fireworks Extravaganza took place on July 4th at 9:00pm on the beach in front of Congress Hall. The dazzling display brought an enormous turnout and made for the perfect end to a day full of patriotic festivities around Cape May.
Cape May’s annual Independence Parade was held Saturday, July 3rd. The parade commenced at 1pm outside of Convention Hall on Beach Avenue. Parade participants included bands, antique cars, fire engines, costumed performers, local groups and organizations, and members of the US Armed Forces.
On July 2nd, CBS Evening News filmed a segment of “The American Spirit” at Sunset Beach in Cape May Point. CBS national news correspondent Jim Axelrod interviewed 89-year-old Navy veteran Marvin Hume who has led flag ceremonies in honor of war veterans at the beach for the past 38 years. CBS 3 Meteorologist Kathy Orr visited Cape May on July 1 to film a segment of “Orr at the Shore.” She interviewed local photographer Anita Roth about sea glass, and where to find it on Cape May’s beaches.
