Victor Grasso "Up From the Wreckage" Art Exhibit at SOMA NewArt Gallery
Location: SoMa Gallery
SOMA NewArt Gallery presents Victor Grasso "Up From the Wreckage" New Paintings August 7 - September 7, 2010 Artist Opening Reception Saturday, August 7 6:00PM to 9:00PM Victor Grasso - Artist Statement: My mission is to construct unusual circumstances from ordinary situations, and my muse is the southern New Jersey coastline. Mixing local flavor, a heavy dose of femininity, historical irony, naturalism, and a rich maritime legacy, I convey a vision of mischievous unpredictability. Through painting and drawing in the realist tradition, I push the limits of the viewers' recognition. I seek, and portray, a mysterious allure in the people, and the terrain, of the southern shore communities.

Cape May Stage presents Happy Days
Location: Robert Shackleton Theater
Happy Days by Samuel Beckett
August 25 – September 25, 2010
Wednesdays – Sundays, 8PM

Happy Days playing at Cape May Stage
In "Happy Days", award-winning playwright Samuel Beckett pursues his relentless search for the meaning of existence, probing the tenuous relationships that bind one person to another, and each to the universe, to time past and time present. Once again, stripping theater to its barest essentials, "Happy Days" offers only two characters: a married couple, Winnie and Willie, a mound of dirt as the set, and a bag of props containing a few earthly possessions. Returning from 2009's hit comedy, "Social Security", beloved actors Lynn and Ron Cohen star in this compelling production.

Cost: Ticketed

Ethel Barrymore challenged Davis, a famous journalist, to write a play, and he composed one of the funniest comedies ELTC has ever produced! Brooke Travers flees NYC by jumping aboard a ship, which lands him in Puerto Banos, in Central America. Believing he could be arrested at any moment, he assumes different names, and even swaps identities with the American Consul, Colonel Bowie. Who’s in charge of this Banana Republic is anyone’s guess in this large-cast 1904 Broadway hit that ELTC first produced in 2001.
