Where you can eat Thanksgiving dinner in Cape May in 2019

Fall decor on the Washington Street Mall

This year is flying! It’s gone by so quickly, we’re two weeks late in getting our regular Thanksgiving Dinner roundup to you. Luckily, many restaurants are still taking reservations for next Thursday if you haven’t already made yours. We’ll update this list with additional information as we receive it. Here we go:

Aleathea’s

If Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without a whole carved turkey, Aleathea’s Restaurant at the Inn of Cape May has you covered. Whole turkeys are carved tableside and accompanied by traditional Thanksgiving sides. Does that sound like too much? They have an a la carte menu available as well.

The Blue Pig Tavern – 2-8pm

The Blue Pig Tavern at Congress Hall is offering an a la carte Thanksgiving menu so everyone at the table can get what they like. The first course includes choices like clam chowder, a mini cranberry pecan cheese ball (in case you’re nostalgic for the ones your aunt used to serve), and deviled eggs. Second course options are a traditional turkey dinner, jumbo lump crab cakes, steak, a roasted portobello with risotto, baked haddock, or pasta with wild board and porcini ragu. Must have pie? They have pumpkin, apple crumb, pecan, and chocolate mousse cake (gluten free) for any non-pie people in your party.

Congress Hall – Sold out

Congress Hall’s Thanksgiving Dinner in the Ballroom is already sold out for the year.

The Ebbitt Room – 2-7pm

If you’re looking for an upscale Thanksgiving dinner, the Ebbitt Room is offering a $75 prix-fixe, three-course menu. Start with a fall chicory salad, roast parsnip soup, or smoked trout dip. For your main course, choose from a whole roasted turkey served family style (minimum 6 guests and must be ordered when you place your reservation) or one of three individual entrees: turkey and stuffing, grilled swordfish, or roasted duck breast. For dessert, have your choice of pumpkin mousse pie, apple turnovers, or a s’mores parfait. Yes, please.

The Grand Hotel – 1-7pm – almost sold out

The Grand Hotel’s annual penthouse buffet is almost sold out. Dinner items include prime rib, turkey, seafood pasta, salmon, plus traditional sides like stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and fresh cranberry chutney. And yes, there’s pie (and cheesecake and bread pudding). $42.95 for adults; children 12 & under $18.

Peter Shields Inn – Fully reserved

If, like me, you’d been planning to book a table at PSI this year, I’m sorry to tell you that they’re completely reserved for a few weeks. (How far out is too far out for 2020? Asking for a friend.)

The Rusty Nail – 1-6pm

If a relaxed atmosphere and fried turkey are on your must-have list, check out the Rusty Nail’s Down-Home Thanksgiving. This prix-fixe menu includes three courses. Start with cream of butternut squash or a farm salad. For your main course, dig into a plate of Chef Jimmy’s deep-fried turkey (served family style along with traditional Thanksgiving sides), grilled salmon, or pasta primavera. Dessert options are apple cobbler, pumpkin cheesecake, and sweet potato pie. Don’t want to pick just one? Have everyone at the table order something different and get some extra forks. $40 for adults; $15 for kids 4-12; kids 3 and under are free!

The Washington Inn – 2-7pm

If you want an a la carte menu with lots of options, the Washington Inn is for you. The menu includes selections for appetizers, entrees, accompaniments, dessert, dessert martinis, dessert wine, and coffee. Vegan and gluten-free options available.

The Washington Inn & Lucky Bone’s Thanksgiving to Go –  Sold out

This to-go dinner for 12 has already sold out for the year, but keep it in mind for 2020! This year’s feast was $369 + tax for a fully prepared Thanksgiving meal, including a 20lb turkey.

Wawa

If all else fails, or if you simply want all of the delicious flavors of Thanksgiving in the most compact way possible, The Gobbler is back at Wawa. My brother-in-law swears this hoagie is delicious. Get the original with hot turkey, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce OR add mashed or sweet potatoes and garlic aioli. If you want to skip the bread, opt for The Gobbler Bowl.
